Class update 3RR

Dear all,

A quick update on our week in 3RR. The children have been setting personal targets for hydrotherapy as well as compiling a set of class rules and staff are beginning to nominate pupils for our ‘Golden Box Awards’ in assembly. Congratulations to Hannah who was our first recipient of the award which was given for her geography skills! Children can be nominated for any good work, progress or achievements in school and will be given a certificate to celebrate their successes in front of their friends.

Our Physio, Amy, is also giving a weekly award for motivation in therapy sessions. Congratulations again to Hannah who was also the first recipient of this award!

Here are a few photo’s of the class working on their self portrait project in Task Series.

Have a lovely weekend.

Book Fair and Cake Sale!

Dear all,

3RR have had a busy couple of weeks! As you know, last week was our school book fair, the children were involved in putting up posters to advertise it and enjoyed having a look at the books and choosing which ones they wanted to take home.

We also had our cake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to all who donated, the class really enjoyed spending their money and choosing themselves a treat or two. Hopefully some of them will make it home to you!

We have also been having fun painting with paint sticks to create a new display for the classroom.

Have a lovely weekend.

Welcome back 3RR

Dear all,

3RR would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back, we hope that you all had an enjoyable and restful summer holiday!

Everyone has settled in well over the first two weeks of term. We have learned about what our friends have been up to in the holidays and welcomed some new faces to the class and the staff team.

Next week will be our school book fair and there will be an opportunity for the children to visit and have a look at what’s on offer.

The newsletter will be coming out soon with more information about the curriculum and dates for the diary.

Please note that hydrotherapy will now be taking place on Monday afternoons – so don’t forget your swimming kit!

Finally, we would like to wish Kara a very happy birthday! She was 14 on Thursday – Many happy returns to you!

Have a lovely weekend.

ED class visit the Reindeer’s at Azure Garden Centre

ED class went for a trip to Azure Garden centre in Cramlington to visit the Reindeer’s.

When we arrived we met the Garden Centre staff in the café and helped them to set up Santa’s Grotto. We all had to opportunity to write out a Christmas card to give to Santa.

We then Got some Reindeer food and went to feed the reindeers. We all enjoyed stroking them and giving them lots of food, they were really fun to watch. After saying goodbye to them we washed our hands and went for a walk through the Gardens. There were lots of Christmas tree’s to smell and feel and a beautiful walkway all decorated in lights.

After exploring we returned to the café for lunch and some social time.

After Lunch we walked around the shop and each bought an item to take home.

What a lovely day!!!

Proud students in 4TS

We would like to share with you some fantastic achievements made by all students in our class.

Holly has started to initiate communication with one of her peers.  She gained Olivia’s attention by tapping her on the arm then she began clapping, indicating that she would like Olivia to join in, which she did.  It was lovely to see the young ladies in our class enjoying social time without any facilitation from adults.  Both students were recognised as ‘student of the week’ well done girls!!

This week Luke has been working hard with Paul, who teaches students with a visual impairment.  He did some amazing tracking of objects, vocalising to indicate what he could see.  He has also been working on an eyegaze device with Eva. Great work Luke!!

James has done some brilliant walking around school. He has walked from the class to the sensory room on several occasions with very little support. His brace, which helps him to maintain an upright position is currently under repair, which has made walking even more of a challenge!

John-Paul and Olivia participated in a very demanding sitting programme, which involved picking up bean bags from either side of their stool from the floor and throwing them into matching coloured hoops.  They didn’t give up, making several attempts when they didn’t hit the hoop the first time.

w/c 13.2.17 is the final week for our Literacy topic book Room on the Broom, which the students have enjoyed listening to, interacting with props linked to the story and acting the parts of different characters. We are looking forward to starting We are going on a Bear Hunt after half term.

A huge well done to all of our students!!
